Preliminary model of a thermoelectric fireplace
Thermoelectric power conversion can be an interesting backup system for offgrid users using photovoltaics. It can produce electricity and heat for dwellings when the solar radiation is low or absent, using a biomass feed (wood). This work performed in 2015 by Giacomo Fontani (bachelor in Mechanical Engineering; suoervisor: G. Manfrida) presents the preliminary sizing (mostly the complex radiation/heat transfer model) of a fireplace including thermoelectric modules.
