Additive Manufacturing is an arising topic that is going to lead the manufacturing approach to a future revolution: it is able to change dramatically the way to design new products, reshape the manufacturing process and supply chains. The turning point for this revolution would be the introduction of a fast e reliable process also for metal parts. Now, one of the most promising technology is the WAAM (Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing) that is able to achieve a very high deposition rate together with a good feature resolution for most of the engineering metals. Actual research on this field are: development of an hybrid additive-subtractive machine that implement WAAM, simulation of the process to support an optimal planning of the process (toolpath and deposition parameters), development of an on-line process control to maintain the process in optimal conditions, etc.
